The Cave : Laminosin (The Lake Room)

This chamber stands out for the incredible number and variety of its geological formations. Here we can observe these formations from very close up.

As its name indicates, the room is full of pools and sinkholes (gours) that fill up rapidly when it rains. The end of the chamber cannot be visited but is reached along a narrow passageway. The formations in this area are similar to those in the previous area but this is the largest area of Laminosin .

During the visit we can see blocks of rock that fell from the cave ceiling thousands of years ago. They show us, generally speaking, how the chamber was formed. Other interesting features are the fissures through which water filters - given that the ceiling is quite low we can see quite clearly where the water is having an effect. These points are the origin of the stalactites and stalagmites. As well as the above-mentioned formations, we can also observe draperies, columns (where stalagmites and stalactites meet), flowstones, etc.
